Understanding telematics and its influence on operations is important in today's fleet management landscape. We recently had a conversation with Randall Baker from Guy M. Turner, a frontrunner in crane rigging and heavy haul services. During our interview discussion, Randall talks about his collaboration with Assured Telematics.
Hi, Randall! It's great to connect with you, and thank you so much for joining us to share your expertise with the larger fleet community. For decades, your organization, Guy M. Turner has been an industry leader in crane rigging and heavy haul services, earning a reputation for successfully and safely tackling any project, small or large.
As one of the industry's most highly regarded companies, we want to better understand how you use Telematics to optimize your fleet operations. So let's get started. I have some questions for you if you're ready.
How long have you been working with Assured Telematics and what initially led you to choose our services?
I met Frank Pellitta about nine months ago, and we've implemented Geotab, which is our fleet tracking hardware, and Assured Telematics is the Integrator for that hardware. We went live starting as of about May this year, and so I'm a fairly new customer.
How does your organization use telematics and how has Assured Telematics helped?
Previous to using Geotab through Assured Telematics, we had another tracking hours of service hardware and software vendor. We weren't displeased with the hardware, but their newest generation of hardware didn't match what we were looking for. So we went out on the marketplace and did an assessment, and through that, we met the folks at Assured Telematics.
The thing I like about that model is that Geotab is an internationally known tracking and hours of service vendor. We have, say, maybe 100 devices. So with that, we get personalized service on the integration, the setup, and ongoing support. Assured Telematics has helped us very much with the install, the setup of the software, and their people have helped us with ongoing support.
Do you rely on any specific fleet management reports or integrated solutions?
Yes, they've configured a number of reports for us - standard reports in the industry, like IFTA reporting. We have asked them to configure those in a way that they're automatically generated, so we don't have to take the time to do that. And Frank's team has been a great partner in setting that up which helps us enhance our efficiency.
In your opinion, what sets Assured Telematics apart from other providers in the industry?
Assured Telematics knows their customer, and we know their people by name. They're very personable. They like to have a good time. Tracking software is not necessarily the most sexy thing in the business, but his employees make it fun. They are always responsive. They understand us and our goals.
In the world of tracking, most people that would buy this type of hardware would be trucking companies, such as UPS or Amazon. We run a fleet of cranes which have their own particular challenges to be able to configure the software so that it matches our needs.
Assured Telematics provides excellent training. Their hand holding, as we went through a change from one vendor to another, was seamless in the way they helped us. I've done a number of integrations with other types of hardware and software, and this is one of the best I've had in many years.
That's great feedback. Thank you so much for sharing. And I know sometimes when a business is outside the ordinary, that's when our team thrives. We love a challenge. It enables us to better serve customers, so continue to do so. We really appreciate having you as a client and thank you so much for taking the time to share your experiences. It was a pleasure to speak with you and we cannot wait to share these insights with our viewers.
Glad to be a help and a partner to Assured Telematics.
