ATI and Intelligent Telematics North America Seal Partnership

February 1st, 2016

To Focus On The Cost of Ignoring Driver Behavior

Although fleet management is known for its many telematics advantages such as driver safety, vehicle maintenance and vehicle utilization, one of the first ways to create an immediate and positive impact comes down to focusing on driver safety by improving driver behavior. With the help of telematics and GPS, along with other in-vehicle monitoring devices, it is now easier than ever to manage driver behavior. This is one of the main reasons why Assured Telematics and Intelligent Telematics North America have decided to team up and provide solutions for fleet management.

Assured Telematics – who offers both products and services which utilize modern technology to deal with day-to-day issues related to fleet management – has agreed to partner with Intelligent Telematics, a company who provides video solutions for fleet tracking and monitoring. Intelligent Telematics, uses an integrated 3G vehicle camera and tracking system which offers fleet protection in real time; and its partnership with ATI is seen as a major step in the industry. Not only does it hold a promising future for the most common fleet management solutions, it also focuses on the Cost Of Ignoring (COI) driver behavior.

The COI Factor

“We spend so much time coming up with return on investment (ROI) models for our customers, but something that I feel is just as important is COI,” said Frank Pellitta, president of Assured Telematics. COI issues have become prevalent over the years with road safety becoming a major concern.

Three major types of critical events were assigned to large trucks:

  • Running out of the travel lane, either into another lane or off the road (32 percent of the large trucks in the LTCCS sample were assigned this critical event)
  • Vehicle loss of control due to traveling too fast for conditions, cargo shift, vehicle systems failure, poor road conditions, or other reasons (29 percent)
  • Colliding with the rear end of another vehicle in the truck's travel lane (22 percent).

“While it is much harder to put a number on COI versus ROI, it is no less important when it comes to the cost of a fatality, injury, or lawsuit. So, by continuing to expand its product line and by constantly addressing both ROI and COI, Assured Telematics hopes to further increase the chances that a commercial driver will make it home safely, as well as reduce the chances of exposure to incidents for the company.”, Pellitta further stated.

Intelligent Telematics, on the other hand, has three primary system highlights over their competition.

According to Richard Baxendale, president of the company, the key points include:

  1. “Instant notification of a harsh event, coupled with the corresponding video and G force/location/trip detail;
  2. A remotely configurable device that virtually eradicates false alerts, and;
  3. The availability of single, dual, and multi-camera systems”.

These three elements are major advantages over other similar services. “Most of our customers choose our system because it delivers the key data faster than any device available, such as Lytx/DriveCam and Smart Drive. This results in an average claims frequency reduction of over 45% and claims cost reduction by over 40%, which in many circumstances saves the fleet operator tens of thousands of dollars.”, stated Baxendale.

The Partnership

The products and services offered by Assured Telematics and Intelligent Telematics, are both state-of-the-art technologies, which are essential for efficient fleet management. Intelligent Telematics, for example, provides instant video evidence for driver behavior management. This complements Assured Telematics topnotch fleet safety, productivity enhancement, and fleet ecology solutions and support. These services will help reduce costs on fuel and vehicle maintenance, increase safety, protect assets and increase efficiency.

“As the need for in-vehicle video grows, working with Intelligent Telematics is a key focus for our company. We want to be able to offer our fleet customers all the means to best manage their fleets and give more safety features to their drivers.”, quoted Pellitta.

“The Intelligent Telematics group views the partnership with Assured Telematics in the USA as key to our continued aggressive growth plans. ATI brings many years of telematics experience with a thorough understanding of how camera technology can offer the final dimension in fleet transparency and safety.”, said Baxendale.

With this new partnership, expect more innovative fleet monitoring and tracking management solutions to come.
